This is celebrated on the 13th day of kartik month as per hindu panchang. It is believed that worship on this day and buying auspicious metal on this day will bring prosperity in life.

Actually the 5 days from this day are very important because next day is known as narak chaturdashi  on which special cleaning process is done so as to welcome mahalaxmi after this Diwali will be celebrated and after this govardhan Pooja is celebrated and then Bhaai Dooj.  So from Dhan teras people are busy in performing different rituals to bring prosperity in life.

On this day there is a tradition to buy precious metals, utensils etc for business and home use. As per another belief on this day Kuber(god of wealth) pooja is done, Yamraj(god of death) pooja is done with mahalaxmiji(goddess of wealth).

In the evening of dhanteras lamp is offered in the name of Yamraj. 

• On this day 6 planets will be auspicious, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Ketu and Shani which will be very beneficial for all and will help in fulfilling materialistic desires.
• Mercury will remain exalted in the transit horoscope, due to which it will be a very good time for the traders.
• Sun will remain in its debilitated sign Libra and eclipse yoga will also remain due to which accidents and unwanted incidents can also happen, so there is a need to be careful.

1. On this day it is good to establish a Kalash in which put 5 supari, 1 silver coin, drob grass, a piece of turmeric, 9 gems, now place a plate of rice on the kalash and then put a coconut over it.
2. After this it is good to perform Panchopchaar pooja of this kalash and pray to god and goddess to come to bless you.
3. Light a Deepak and offer bhog/navaidya.
4. In the evening it is good to offer 14 lamps in the name of Yamraaj the god of death. The offering deepak is called deep daan. Also do recite Yam Strot or any mantra of Yamraj like “Om yamay Namah”, in the evening at the time of deep daan. Do put pinch of sugar, 1 kaudi, pinch of turmeric powder, pinch of rice in deepak. 
5. From this day it is also good to start worshiping Shree yantra so gold shree yantra, silver shree yantra, parad shree yantra, bhoj patra shree yantra can be worshiped as per the budget.

It is also necessary to keep our thinking pure and sacred to get the blessings of dhan kuber, yamraj and goddess laxmi.

The festival of Dhanteras is celebrated on the Trayodashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. In 2023, the festival of Dhanteras will be celebrated on 10th of November 2023. On this day people have a tradition of buying silver, gold and utensils and other items for the kitchen. On this day, along with Lord Ganesha, Mahalakshmi, there is also a provision for worship of Dhanvantari Dev.

Dhanteras mantr is very powerful. By chanting the mantra on this day, the person gets health, gets longevity, gets rid of money related problems.

Yam-deepak: To avoid premature death of Dhanteras, a lamp is lit outside the house in the name of Yamraj, which is called Yama Deepak.

Dhanteras 2023: According to mythology, Vaidya Dhanvantari appeared on the day of Dhanteras with the nectar urn in his hand from the churning of the ocean.

Dhanteras is celebrated by Lord Kuber who is the lord of wealth. It is believed that the person who worships Lord Kubera with complete rituals, there is never any shortage of wealth in his house. At the time of worshiping Kuber Dev, always keep in mind that he should be worshiped only during Pradosh period.
